Volunteer Instructors

Teach what you know.
Earn service hours.

NextArc Learning is powered by high school volunteers. If you’re a high-achieving student who earned strong AP or SAT scores, we want you on the team. Teach what you just mastered, help younger students get ahead, and earn verified community service hours.

Why Volunteer

What you give. What you get.

Volunteering at NextArc is a two-way exchange. You give your time and knowledge. You leave with hours, experience, and a record of real impact.

Verified service hours

Every session you teach counts toward your community service requirement. We provide official documentation you can use for your school, NHS chapter, scholarship applications, or college record.

Teaching deepens your knowledge

The best way to understand a subject is to explain it to someone else. Instructors consistently say they left each session understanding the material better than when they walked in.

Real impact

You’re not clicking through an app. You’re in a live session with students who are counting on you. The difference you make is visible, immediate, and real.

Subjects We Need

Where volunteer instructors teach.

We organize instructors by subject area. You focus on one subject you know well, not a mixed bag of everything.

Mathematics

Pre-algebra through pre-calculus. We’re looking for volunteers with strong performance in AP Calculus AB/BC or competitive math experience.

Computer Science

Intro programming and Python fundamentals. Strong AP Computer Science scores and hands-on computer science experience preferred.

Science

Earth science, biology, and chemistry basics. We value volunteers who can make science feel like a way of thinking, not just memorization.

SAT Prep & College Planning

SAT readiness, application strategy, and course planning. Top SAT scorers with firsthand college prep experience are a great fit here.

Personal Finance

Saving, budgeting, and financial literacy for high schoolers. Strong finance coursework and the ability to connect with younger students required.

AP Exam Subjects

We always need instructors for AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP US History, AP Statistics, AP Calculus, and more. If you earned a 4 or 5, we want to hear from you.

Qualifications

What we look for in volunteers.

We have a simple qualification process. It’s not a barrier; it’s how we make sure students get instruction from someone who genuinely knows the material.

NextArc is a nonprofit. We don’t pay instructors, and we’re transparent about that. What we offer instead is a structured, meaningful volunteer experience that looks good and means something.

We ask applicants to show us their scores before we match them with students. It’s a short process and takes less than a week from application to approval.

AP score verification

Strong AP scores (4s and 5s) in the subject area you want to teach. We ask to see the actual score report, not just a claim.

SAT verification (if applicable)

For SAT prep and college planning volunteers: a strong SAT result backed by the real score report.

Short subject interview

A 15–20 minute conversation where we ask you to explain a concept simply. If you can make it clear, you’re in.
