Our two-week summer program finished July 31. This page is about the people who run NextArc and how we work. What we’re running now is Individual Tutoring: free two-week one-on-one blocks with an instructor.
Meet the Team
The people behind NextArc.
Going into high school without anyone to ask was a confusing period of my life. I lost time and energy on things that should’ve taken one conversation with the right person, and I watched friends do the same. I started NextArc to be the opportunity I wish I’d had. That’s why I built my team with students who just walked the same path, who remember exactly what was hard, and who can explain it the way they wish someone had explained it to them.
I don’t believe cost should decide who gets the help they need. That’s why we share what we earn with local schools, and why we offer scholarships for families who need them.
Hi, I’m Pranav, a rising junior at Ballantyne Ridge with a 1560 SAT and 5s on AP Statistics, AP Government, AP Psychology, AP CSP, and AP Precalculus. I’ll be joining the IB Diploma Programme and NCSSM Online this fall. I work part-time at Kumon and love helping students get comfortable with financial topics.

Hi, I’m Indraneel, a rising junior at Ballantyne Ridge with a 1490 SAT and 5s on AP Computer Science Principles and AP Government. I play varsity soccer and compete in TSA and FRC Robotics. I’ll be attending NCSSM Durham this fall, and I’m excited to make an impact at NextArc.
Hi, I’m Nandhan, a rising junior at Ballantyne Ridge with a 1500 SAT and 5s across AP Statistics, AP Precalculus, AP CSP, AP Calculus BC, and AP Biology. This fall I’m starting the IB Diploma Programme and NCSSM Online. I’m self-taught in multivariable calculus and linear algebra, work at Kumon, and love helping students visualize advanced math.
Hi, I’m Nilai, a rising junior at Ballantyne Ridge starting NCSSM Online this fall with a focus on molecular biology and medicinal chemistry. I’ve placed at state level in HOSA, Science Olympiad, and TSA, and by year’s end I’ll have completed 5 AP courses, including AP Biology and AP Calculus BC.
Hi, I’m Kalp, a rising junior at Ballantyne Ridge with a 1540 SAT and 7 APs by the end of this year. I run varsity track and cross country, compete internationally in DECA, and participate in FBLA. This fall I’ll start the IB Diploma Programme and NCSSM Online, focused on aerospace engineering and data science.

Hi, I’m Yoav Ovrutsky, a rising junior at Ballantyne Ridge. I’ve taken AP CSP, AP CSA, AP Statistics, and AP Precalculus. Outside of school I perform piano nationally at concert halls and churches, swim varsity, and lead clubs like TSA, Mu Alpha Theta, and FBLA. I’m joining the IB Diploma Program this fall, and I’m eager to help students find ease in areas where they struggle.

Four things that hold true whether it’s a summer cohort or a two-week one-on-one block.
Real experts, real subjects
Every instructor earned strong AP and SAT scores themselves and sticks to one subject area. They went through the exact classes your student is in right now, recently enough to remember which parts were hard.
Progress you can see
Students start with an intake form, and you get a written note after every session plus a report at the end. You’ll know what was covered, where your student struggled, and what to focus on next. No vague summaries.
Accessible by design
Everything we run is virtual, available nationwide, and free. NextArc is a nonprofit, and we don’t think cost should determine who gets help. We also partner with local elementary schools to support classrooms in our community.
Academic planning, not just homework help
We help students figure out which classes to take and what scores to aim for. Most school counselors don’t have time for that conversation in any real depth. One-on-one, we do.
Why we started
The kind of help we wished we’d had.
A lot of us grew up with parents, teachers, or older siblings who could explain things the second time, the third time, however many times it took. Not every student has that. NextArc exists to close that gap, even just a little, by putting students who recently figured it out in a room with students who are still figuring it out.
The program is small on purpose. Five students to one specialist, taught live, with a different expert rotating in for each subject. It isn’t the cheapest model to run, but it’s the format we believe in, and the one we’d send our own younger siblings to.
We also partner with local elementary schools in Charlotte to help classrooms get what they need: supplies, books, and STEM experiences. Those classrooms are where the next generation of NextArc students is sitting right now, and that’s reason enough.
How we pick them
We don’t accept random volunteers.
Every volunteer instructor goes through a structured qualification process before they work with any student.
They submit their AP and SAT score reports and complete a subject-area interview before they ever log in to a session.
The result: students work with volunteer instructors who know the material well enough to teach it, not just repeat it.
AP score verification
Strong AP scores (4s and 5s) in the academic areas they support. We see the actual score report, not just a claim.
SAT verification
A strong SAT result for anyone supporting test prep and college planning, backed by the real score report.
Subject interview
A 20-minute interview where they have to explain a hard concept simply. If they can’t, they don’t teach it.

The spark
A different way of looking at the material.
There’s a shift that happens when a student stops asking “what’s the answer?” and starts asking “why does this work?” That’s what we’re after. We push past grade level on purpose, and students tend to leave curious about what they want to study next.
Certificate of completion
A credential they can proudly show.
Every student who finished Summer 2026 received a signed NextArc Certificate of Completion listing the subjects covered, the instructors who taught them, and the hours completed. Tutoring students earn one at the end of their block. Real documentation for applications, transcripts, and conversations with their school.
Community access for life
Students stay connected after the sessions end.
Every student we’ve worked with, along with every family in our community, is invited to the STEM events we run year-round: STEM nights, local meetups, guest sessions, and outreach events. Open to families who enrolled and to families who didn’t. We’re building a long-term STEM community in our area, and your student is part of it.

No applications, no overhead layer. We work directly with teachers to fund the supplies, books, and trips that students need.

We bring supplies directly to schools when we can and report back on where the money went.

We start with elementary schools in our own neighborhood and grow the program as we grow.

Free, like everything we run. We never ask families for payment details.
