For Parents

The instructors who teach here
just passed the same tests
your student is preparing for.

NextArc Learning is a free nonprofit run by high school students. Our volunteer instructors earned strong AP and SAT scores in the subjects they teach, which means they bring firsthand knowledge of what the material takes, not a textbook overview of it.

One instructor per subject, every time

Each instructor focuses on one part of the program. When your student is working through science, they’re taught by someone who genuinely knows that subject, not a generalist covering everything at half effort.

You stay in the loop

Weekly parent updates throughout the program. You’ll know exactly what was covered, what your student struggled with, and the plan going into the next session.

Academic planning, not just two weeks

We help students figure out which classes to take and what scores to aim for. Most school counselors don’t have time for that conversation in any real depth, and we do.

What you get

What your family gets from enrolling.

The program runs two weeks. Here’s what your student walks away with.

The spark

A different way of looking at the material.

There’s a shift that happens when a student stops asking “what’s the answer?” and starts asking “why does this work?” That’s what we’re trying to get to. We push past grade level on purpose, and most students leave the program already curious about what they want to study next.

Certificate of completion

A credential they can proudly show.

Every student who finishes the two weeks receives a signed NextArc Certificate of Completion. It lists the subjects covered, the instructors who taught them, and the hours completed. Real documentation for applications, transcripts, and conversations with their school.

Community access for life

Students stay connected after the program ends.

Every student we’ve worked with, along with every family in our community, is invited to the STEM events we run year-round: STEM nights, local meetups, guest sessions, and outreach events. Open to families who enrolled and to families who didn’t. We’re building a long-term STEM community in our area, and your student is part of it.

Who teaches your student

Each instructor teaches one subject.

Our instructors are high school students who volunteer their time in exchange for verified community service hours. Each one focuses on a single subject they know well; they’ve just finished that exact curriculum themselves.

Math Instructor

Covers pre-algebra, Algebra I and II, and pre-calculus foundations. Chosen for top performance in advanced math through AP Calculus BC and competitive math experience.

Technology Instructor

Covers computer fundamentals and intro Python logic. Chosen for high AP Computer Science scores, hands-on computer science and robotics experience, and a strong tech track record.

Science Instructor

Covers earth science through biology and chemistry basics, taught as a way of thinking rather than memorization. Brings the curiosity that earned them top marks themselves.

SAT Prep & College Instructor

Handles SAT readiness plus the basics of college admissions: applications, course selection, and what matters most. Chosen for a top SAT score and firsthand experience with the same prep process students are entering.

Finance Instructor

Covers personal finance basics: saving, budgeting, and how money really works at a high-school level. Chosen for a strong record in finance coursework and the ability to make these topics click for younger students.

We don’t accept random volunteers. Every volunteer instructor goes through a structured qualification process before they work with any student.

They submit their AP and SAT score reports and complete a subject-area interview before they ever log in to a session.

The result: students work with volunteer instructors who know the material well enough to teach it, not just repeat it.

AP score verification

Strong AP scores (4s and 5s) in the academic areas they support. We see the actual score report, not just a claim.

SAT verification

A strong SAT result for anyone supporting test prep and college planning, backed by the real score report.

Subject interview

A 20-minute interview where they have to explain a hard concept simply. If they can’t, they don’t teach it.
